Nicki Minaj, Can We Talk About Your ‘Stupid Hoe’ Video For A Minute?

Posted by No comments

Dear Nicki Minaj , So, I love you and pretty much everything you do. Since you burst onto the scene spitting ridiculously sick rhymes on your mixtapes, churning out chart-slaying pop melodies, and effortlessly inhabiting a zillion characters with verbal dexterity that would make Twista ‘s head spin, I’ve been totally infatuated with you. Which is why I feel a sense of responsibility to have a quick convo with you about your new video “Stupid Hoe.” Of course, I’ve been breathlessly anticipating the release of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded , which you just tweeted has been rescheduled for April 3 from Feb.

Selena Gomez Kisses ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Ashley Benson! But In The PG Way (PHOTO)

Credit: Tumblr Justin Bieber may have fired his “swag coach” Ryan Good , but that doesn’t mean Biebs’ girlfriend Selena Gomez had to stop being besties with Ryan’s girlfriend, “Pretty Little Liars” actress Ashley Benson. How diplomatic of her! This adorbz-overload photo was taken while Sel and Ashley were chilling in Cabo on a recent mini vacay. A few things to point out: When I’m “chilling,” I’m lying around in sweats with no makeup and a ring of orange powder around my mouth from the gigantic bag of Cheetos I’ve just inhaled

Kelly Clarkson Covers Etta James’ ‘I’d Rather Go Blind,’ Completely Nails It

Posted by No comments

Credit: Getty Images What better way is there to pay tribute to the late, VERY GREAT Etta James than by singing one of her most famous songs at one of the world’s most famous venues? At her Radio City Music Hall show this past Saturday, Kelly Clarkson honored the singer, who passed away Friday after a lengthy battle with leukemia , by covering “I’d Rather Go Blind,” one of Etta’s most powerful and poignant songs. Though Kelly Clarkson is primarily known for her pop-centric pipes, she brought out her raspy (and may I add, effing incredible) blues side in an homage to Etta’s signature jazzy style

Watch Miley Cyrus Pay Tribute To Bob Dylan In Her New ‘You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go’ Video

Miley Cyrus covered Bob Dylan ‘s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go,” and, people, do not laugh as I am completely serious when I muster all of my renown and critical authority (and put my rock-solid reputation as a SERIOUS MUSIC WRITER on the line here) to declare that Miley’s cover should absolutely be taken seriously. Miley’s cover is part of the Bob Dylan compilation Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan  Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International , a four-disc collection that honors Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary and pays tribute to Bob Dylan, featuring artists like Ke$ha (who covered “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” ), Adele, Pete Townshend, The Airborne Toxic Event and more.

Star Spotting: Katy Perry Just Wants To Have Fun

Posted by No comments

Credit: Splash News This photo of Katy Perry promoting her fragrance Purr in Manila, Philippines over the weekend warms my cold, shriveled heart for so many reasons! Allow me to explain. First of all, GOOOOOO, Team Katy! We’re so, so pumped that Katy is picking herself up by the boot straps (or eerie printed ballerina dress) after the announcement of her separation from her husband Russell Brand . She’s getting right back to work which always helps with heartbreak (says Dr.

Video Premiere: Silverstein, ‘Brookfield’

Punk’s not dead; it just got super-obsessed with Instagram. Ontario quintet Silverstein ‘s hard-hitting new single “Brookfield” comes along with footage vignetted and faded like your favorite filters, though the band’s cool underwater shots look like actual Super 8 film. When he’s not taking a dip, singer Shane Told is marching intently through the streets of his hometown as electric guitars blast, singing about memories that seem anything but sepia-toned: “I’m sick of telling secrets/To people who don’t care enough to know/Why I’m so scared,” he sings

Song Premiere: Eisley, ‘One Last Song’

Let’s say it’s been a long day: You’re exhausted, you have a pounding headache and your roommate just ate your last Lean Cuisine. Basically, you’re completely effed. Cue “One Last Song,” Eisley ‘s soft and calm new track, and probably the only non-narcotic that will help you out of your post-workday grumpfest

Video Premiere: Electric Guest, ‘American Daydream’

Despite the cheerful-sounding title, Electric Guest ‘s “American Daydream” video plays out more like uneasy social commentary than a sunny romp, and it’s riveting. The Los Angeles duo, featuring frontman Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, have been making electro-soul waves with recently released songs that range from the sprawling, moody “Troubleman” to the downright soul-kissed “This Head I Hold,” all from their forthcoming Danger Mouse -produced debut album, Mondo. “American Daydream” adds a soulful sway and catchiness to some otherwise ominous sentiments
