Star Spotting: Ke$ha Looks Sad! She Needs A Beard, STAT!

Posted by No comments

Credit: Pacific Coast News It’s virtually impossible to smile in every single picture, but we really wanna know why Ke$ha looks sad! After dropping a hilariously awesome video for ” Sleazy Remix 2.0 Get Sleazier ,” (chock full of drag queens and senior citizens lip syncing the dirty tune, obvs) you’d think she’d be beaming with pride — she’s officially the sleaziest (yet, still refined) lady in the world. Plus, if we were on our way to see Cirque du Soleil’s ” Michael Jackson , The Immortal” like Ke$ha was when she was snapped this past weekend, we’d have a little more pep in our step

Britney Spears Was In This Japanese Commercial In The ’90s (Just A Reminder)

Credit: TheRealBRITannica A long, long time ago, we were living in a decade known as “the ’90s” — cameras and phones were separate entities, James Van Der Beek was on TV (not in GIFs ), and Britney Spears was a wee lil’ baby.

Lana Del Rey’s Least Favorite Video Game? ‘World Of Warcraft’

Posted by No comments

Late last year, despite the fact that her major label debut, Born To Die , is out this week, MTV Artist To Watch Lana Del Rey was anointed unimpeachable Queen of the Internet — and she’s currently taking on the modeling world, and the late-night TV scene , plus, by this point next week, your mom will probably know who you mean if you just say “Lana –? based on her supernaturally popular breakthrough viral hit, “Video Games.” And, unsurprisingly, Lana Del Rey has opinions about actual video games. (Which is good because I’m basically the type of person who considers CatPaint a video game, making me absolutely no authority whatsoever on the topic.) Bad news, “World Of Warcrafters.” WOW is Lana Del Rey’s absolutely least favorite game.

New Song: Karmin, ‘Broken Hearted’

Karmin ‘s new single may be the sunniest song to ever bear a title like “Broken Hearted,” but what else would you expect from the eternally chipper swag-pop duo? Frontgirl Amy Heidemann’s got one of those Disney-princess-esque dispositions — you know, the sort of totally sincere sweetness that suggests she probably wakes up each morning to cartoon birds pulling her covers away. But with all due respect, we so can’t see Cinderella or any of those other prisses rapping with anything remotely like the super-slick flow that Amy shows off on “Broken Hearted.” Nor are they likely prone to “sippin’ on that Patron” or classifying their personal style as “business in the front, party in the back,” but who knows?

New Song: M.I.A., ‘Bad Girls’

After 2010′s aggressively weird Maya , M.I.A. gets back to her brassy pop roots on “Bad Girls,” the first single from her upcoming fourth album. Produced by Timbaland protégé Danja, the song’s packed with thumping beats, slinky grooves and genius lyrics that never fail to flaunt the singer/rapper/hellraiser’s trademark souped-up swagger.

The Buzz On: Soft Swells

Posted by No comments

Credit: Soft Swells Soft Swells are a band of New York expats turned proud Californians — they named the group after the ocean, after all — though the music’s more rugged than you’d expect from the City of Angels. On single “Every Little Thing,” Soft Swells channel the Technicolor guitar-pop of Summerteeth -era Wilco , balancing high-flying synthesizer parts against guitars straight from the garage and frontman Tim Williams’ borderline-twangy vocals. Guitarist Matt Welsh’s former band, Phonograph, spent some time touring with the long-lived Chicago group, so it’s no surprise the elder act rubbed off — Williams, too, sounds more Midwestern than Brooklyn-bred.
